Bruce Lee


Bruce Lee was born Bruce Jun-Fan Lee (but just called Jun-Fan by his family) on November 27 1940 in San Fransisco, CA but grew up in Hong Kong.

Bruce Lee's mother Grace Ho was a member of one of China's richest families he Ho Tungs and Bruce Lee's father was also an actor as well as Cantonese opera singer and was a pretty big star before and after WW II.


Bruce Lee started out as a child actor in a number of black and white short films.

as a teenager growing up Bruce Lee got into caught a bit of trouble, he was known to get into a number of fights and was even kicked out of one school (La Salle College) and had to go to another (St. Francis Xavier) where he got into boxing.

it was due to a fight Bruce Lee had around the age of 18 when Bruce Lee's parents sent him to live in America with his sister because they feared that one of the people Bruce Lee got into a fight with was a criminal that hired a hit out on Bruce Lee.



He only lived with his older sister for 7 months and then Bruce Lee moved to Settle where he finished high school and worked at restaurant owned by councilwoman Ruby Chow (and friend of Bruce Lee's parents)

after high school Bruce Lee attended University of Washington where he majored in philosophy (Bruce Lee also studied Drama) It was at college that Bruce Lee meet the women who would be his wife, Linda Emery

Bruce Lee would drop out of college with only a year left to go and work with martial artist James Yimm Lee. The two them would found schools based on a style of Martial arts Bruce Lee Created called Jan Fun Gung Fu.

Bruce Lee would make his Hollywood break when he was seen by producer William Dozier who saw Bruce Lee in the International Karate Championships wanted him for the role of Kato in the TV show Green Hornet.

in 1969 Bruce Lee appeared in his first American film Marlowe.

Bruce Lee pitched a show called the Warrior that he hoped to star but that didn't happened instead the show was renamed Kung Fu and they gave David Carradine the lead role of a Chinese monk because they thought America wouldn't accept an Asian lead.

Feed up with his treatment in Hollywood decided it was best to return to Hong Kong to futher his acting career. Bruce Lee teamed up with Director Raymond Chow for the film The Big Boss which was Bruce Lee's leading role.



the next year Bruce Lee will star in the film Fist of Fury and that same year Bruce Lee took full control of his acting career and write, directed, choregraphed and starred in the movie Way of the Dragon.

in 1973 Bruce Lee starred in the film Enter the Dragon, this movie was the first time Golden Harvest and Warner Brothers teamed up to make a move and was the film that is credit to starting the martial art's crazy of the 70's earlier 80's.

Enter the Dragan was Bruce Lee's last finished film. Bruce Lee died a few months later as he was finisihing up his movie Game of Death. The film was to be away for Bruce Lee to show the world his new fighting style Jeet Kune Do. the film may aslo be know for the battle scene with NBA star Kareem Adbul Jabbar.

The film was released in 1979 by Richarad Chow and Robert Clouse who took the unfinished film and mixed it with look a likes and footage of Bruce Lee in his other movies. They would even release a sequel in 1981 via the same metheads

until then unseen footage from Game of Death was used in the 1995 documentry Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journy.

Bruce Lee has two childern that also went to acting Brandon Lee (who also died while he was making a movie) and Shannon Lee.
